Event Overview

This comprehensive, evidence-based course is specifically designed to enhance the diagnostic and surgical capabilities of practicing oral and maxillofacial surgeons and those preparing for board certification. Through a deep dive into critical pathological entities and contemporary treatment modalities, participants will develop increased clinical confidence and readiness for advanced patient care. Topics include but are not limited to odontogenic cysts and tumors, oral and oropharyngeal cancers, osteoradionecrosis, medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ), jaw reconstruction (hard and soft tissue techniques), salivary gland neoplasms, benign and malignant bone tumors, fibro-osseous lesions, osteomyelitis, and complex oral infections. This course has proven invaluable to clinicians seeking to update their clinical protocols and sharpen their interpretive and surgical skills. It is also highly regarded by residents and diplomate candidates preparing for written and oral board examinations. While the course is not affiliated with the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery or any certifying body, it is structured to complement formal board preparation efforts and continuing education standards. Target Audience This course is intended for practicing oral and maxillofacial surgeons, oral and maxillofacial surgery residents, diplomate candidates preparing for board certification, and other dental and surgical professionals involved in the diagnosis and management of complex oral and maxillofacial conditions. Learner Objectives Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be better able to: Accurately diagnose a range of oral and maxillofacial pathological conditions using clinical, radiographic, and histopathologic data. Formulate comprehensive treatment plans that integrate surgical intervention, pathology-specific management, and reconstructive techniques where appropriate. Select and interpret diagnostic tools, including laboratory evaluations, imaging modalities, and biopsy techniques, to inform case-specific decision-making. Apply evidence-based surgical techniques for the management of oral and maxillofacial pathology, with emphasis on minimizing morbidity and optimizing patient outcomes. Recognize indications for referral and interdisciplinary collaboration in the management of complex cases.
